Lace and Death - the Enduring Relationship

For the 2007 exhibition 'Rhythmns and Cycles', at Highcliffe Castle, Gail explored the enduring relationship between Lace and Death.

Some of the earliest examples of lace have been found in the Danish Bog Burials, others on Peruvian Mummies, and the examples from Egypt were popularly known as 'Mummy Lace'

Throughout history people have gone to their graves dressed in their finest clothes, including lace, and even today coffins may have a lace lining.
